Strawberry Festival
Every April, families from all around the region flock to Ponchatoula, also known as the Strawberry Capital of Louisiana, to enjoy the hugely-popular Strawberry Festival. Held right in the middle of town, guests can stroll the streets, enjoying delicious local food and drink (including many delectable creations made with Louisiana strawberries, of course), carnival rides and games, live music, shopping for crafts and antiques, and much more.
Ponchatoula Area Recreation District
Residents enjoy organized and recreational sports and activities at the spacious Ponchatoula Area Recreation District, known to locals as “the rec park.” The immaculate and modern facilities include baseball and softball fields, youth football fields, indoor basketball courts and walking track, a paved walking/jogging trail, and much more. Community members take great pride in this fine park, and have worked hard to maintain clean facilities and a welcoming atmosphere.
Kliebert’s Alligator Farm
For an adventure you’ll never forget, book a tour at the locally infamous Kliebert’s Alligator Farm. Tour guides lead visitors through Kliebert’s facilities, where they can see and touch alligators, turtles, and more. Learn about the Klieberts’ dedication to the preservation and flourishing of the American Alligator. Visitors can visit the gift shop for the opportunity to purchase gator heads, gator meats, gifts, and more!

Ponchatoula’s restaurants are some of the best in the area. Paul’s Cafe, situated inside one of the town’s iconic buildings on the main corner in the middle of downtown, serves some of the best traditional Louisiana breakfasts, brunches, and lunches in the parish. Roux and Brew Seafood and Steak House offers some of the most savory and creative dishes around, such as panko-encrusted crab cakes, Eggplant Napoleon, almond-encrusted duck tenderloin, with fresh local seafood dishes and premium steaks rounding out their impressive menu.
