Southwest of Springfield is one of South Louisiana's most beautiful and popular golf communities, Carter Plantation. The community features carefully preserved natural woods and wetlands, impeccably manicured grounds, well-staffed and well-kept facilities for residents and guests, a David Toms signature golf course, and one of the region’s finest selections of homes.
Tickfaw State Park
Tickfaw State Park, located seven miles west of Springfield, showcases some of southern Louisiana's most pristine natural scenery. Over a mile of boardwalk winds through the park, leading visitors through four indigenous ecosystems: cypress/tupelo swamp, bottomland hardwood forest, mixed pine/hardwood forest, and the Tickfaw River. The park provides guests with plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking, biking, canoeing, and kayaking. For guests that choose to stay a while, the park provides 30 campsites with water and electricity, and 14 fully-furnished vacation cabins.
Tin Lizzy’s Landing
For those who enjoy letting loose on the water, the Tickfaw River in Springfield features some of the liveliest waterside restaurants and watering holes around. Boats pack the slips at Tin Lizzy’s Landing and Tickfaw Boopalu’s, where guests enjoy hot food, cold drinks, good music and dancing.
